NOVEMBER 17 – 19, 2017  SOLD OUT!

FEBRUARY 24 – MARCH 3, 2018

NOVEMBER 17 – 19, 2017
(Friday check-in 2-4:45pm, first gathering 5pm, and Sunday check-out after lunch)
Join us for our fourth annual women’s retreat and be nourished by a warm and supportive circle of powerful women as we practice yoga, share, and restore together! Just an hour away from NYC, you will feel worlds away at the beautiful Garrison Institute (, a former Capuchin monastery overlooking the Hudson River. It is easily reached either by car or Metro North Railroad (free shuttle service to/from Institute available).
It’s been quite a year since we last gathered in October 2016, both globally and personally, for everyone we know. We may be frazzled, weary, frustrated, and even depressed. When we take the time to step out of our habits, slow down, absorb the breath of life, and spend time with other inspiring women, we change on a cellular level, find a new level of calm within us, and can live more joyfully and satisfyingly when we return to our regular lives.
This beautiful autumn weekend includes juicy yoga practices (both active and restorative, all levels welcome), along with labyrinth walks, personal time, and circle time for reflection and sharing.
The intensity of the yoga practice will range from gentle/restorative to strong. Practitioners of all levels are welcome, and we will modify as needed. Chairs and cushions are available, as are mats and blocks. Bring a yoga strap and blanket if you have one, and your own mat if you like.
Bring paper and pens for writing and/or drawing, as impressions arise during our sweet weekend together. You’ll feel restored after a weekend of moving, resting, being quiet, listening, speaking, connecting, laughing, crying, making friends, eating great food, and soaking in the spirit of this magical place. Pack clothing for yoga, an extra layer for restorative yoga/meditation, and appropriate shoes (sneakers) and clothes for easy hikes/walks on the property. The grounds include a labyrinth, lawns, river overlooks and paths down to the Hudson River.
Single, double, or triple room, shared bath, Friday – Sunday.
Check-in is between 2-4:45pm on Friday (FIRST SESSION STARTS AT 5PM),
Check-out after lunch on Sunday (grounds will remain open after building closes at 2:30pm, so you can stay and explore).

Please let us know if there are dietary restrictions. If you want to supplement with non-vegetarian or other items, there is a refrigerator available. Most students have loved the food and not found supplementation to be necessary.

FEBRUARY 24 – MARCH 3, 2018
First, some photos:

In our quest to experience the incredible beauty of our natural world, we have returned to magical Costa Rica. Playa Coyote on the Pacific Coast’s Costa de Oro will be our luscious backdrop for a week of yoga, deep self-care, exploration, and abundant laughter. The Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica has been identified as one of the five Blue Zones on the planet (areas of the longest-lived people in the world), located near several wildlife refuges. While being cared for in this new and lovingly built tropical eco-resort, Zen Spirit, we are likely to spot some of Costa Rica’s most endangered tropical dry forest inhabitants. We’ll see black howler monkeys, white-headed capuchins, tropical deer, macaws, eagles, sea turtles, and more. Our lodges are set on a long (over 3 miles!), flat, soft-sand beach interrupted only by river estuaries (there are no other resorts on the beach, only private residences). In addition to the yoga classes, we’ll take a nature hike to gorgeous waterfalls, have a one-hour massage, and have the option to bird watch on Kayaks on a mangrove safari, take a turtle nesting tour, surf (or learn to surf), go horseback riding or zip lining, and discover the Ara macaw reintroduction project. It’s a nature lover’s paradise.

Whether you have a longtime yoga practice or are a yoga newbie, this retreat is an opportunity for you to deepen your practice and connect with yourself, with old and new friends, and with the beauty of the ocean before us (and the sunsets!). Twice-daily classes, led by Ingrid and/or Stephan, will be crafted to meet students’ needs and will be both vigorous and restorative. As necessary, we will divide the group into beginner and advanced practices so every participant can work at their respective level. Discover how a week of daily yoga and meditation brings your practice (and your life!) to a deeper level of inquiry and joy!

All our classes will be held on a 1,400 sq. ft. open-air yoga deck with hardwood floors and ocean views. The rest of the day is yours to plan! Group excursions will be coordinated on site. If you want to just chill, there’s always the ocean, pool, warm sun, hammocks, a good book, and wonderful spa treatments. It’s up to you!

  • 7 nights accommodations (check in 3pm, check out 10am)
  • 3 gourmet local (and mostly) organic meals per day (vegan/vegetarian/meat & gluten-free options)
  • daily yoga and meditation sessions (2x daily)
  • 1 hour-long massage

Additional Excursions are not included, but can be arranged and paid for on site. We are really excited about the hike to a waterfall and would love to do the Kayaking on the mangrove. Stephan is definitely planning on rediscovering surfing! : )

Flights and airport transfers are not included. Liberia (Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport, aka LIR) is the closest van transfer to Zen Spirit, (approximately 3.5 hours). There is also the option of doing a second (puddle jumper) flight bringing you to Punta Islita Airport approximately 25 minutes from Zen Spirit ( Once registered, you will be responsible for arranging your transportation to Zen Spirit and forwarding us your itinerary. It’s wise to coordinate flights and/or ground transportation with other attendees. The easiest flight is the direct Jet Blue roundtrip flight from JFK to Liberia airport (JFK – LIR). It’s been hovering around $500.
